Kri-Arte - PaperPhoenix

Meet Krisztina and the PaperPhoenixes!

What happens to a material once it has fulfilled its original purpose? With Krisztina, there’s a good chance its story isn’t over yet

This is how the PapírFőnixek are created in the Kri-Arte workshop: hand-bound notebooks made almost entirely from recycled, salvaged, or otherwise unusable materials. Recycled school notebooks - even their blank pages - along with scrap paper and fabric from tailoring, products with damaged packaging, and leftover or set-aside materials are given a new purpose in these notebooks.

What becomes redundant at the end of one process can serve as the starting point for another story here. The goal is not to erase the previous life of these materials. Quite the contrary: to keep what has already been created in circulation for as long as possible, while transforming it into something new, useful, and lovable.

That’s why no two PapírFőnix pieces are exactly alike. The raw materials often determine for themselves what the next piece will look like.
And perhaps this says the most about Krisztina’s creative mindset: it’s worth looking at what’s already in front of us from a different perspective every now and then.
Because what seems like leftovers at first glance might actually be the beginning of a new story.

And the story can continue with you.
On paper and beyond.
